TETU Member of Parliament F.T Nyamu has cried foul over the decreasing population in his constituency attributing this to inability by men to sire children due drunkenness.
Speaking at Tetu location in his constituency where he was commissioning various CDF projects, Nyamu said that though he had given development of schools a priority, some classrooms remains closed due to lack of students.
“We are urging all men to go back home and fulfill the duties they abandoned. We have to ensure that we revive the diminishing population.” he said.
He urged the youth to shun drunkenness but instead concentrate on matters pertaining to development in the constituency.
He said that it is sad to see a lot of money being used in building up new structures and installing computers in school yet there are no pupils to use them.
“I am afraid that if this goes on like this, the schools might end up being closed due to lack of students. We dont want to see the money we have used in bringing up structures go into waste.”
Of the six constituencies which make up the Nyeri County, Tetu has the least number of registered voters totaling at about 41,000.
