There was drama outside Maathai supermarket on Gakere road, when this police land cruiser ran out of fuel in the middle of the busy street. With the officers stranded street boys who frequent the area decided to be of help coming to their rescue and offering to push the vehicle to a petrol station.
However the rare case of police and street children cooperating was not without its hiccups. Police were initially suspicious and attempted to shoo away the boys, who however insist on pushing the vehicle. Perhaps it was their first ever chance of getting close to a police vehicle without fearing arrest or a good beating.
Eventually they were allowed to push the vehicle up the road, judging from their number they enjoyed this rare chance to do something useful for the police
Old habit dies hard though. No sooner had the police got their vehicle moving than they turned on the boys shoving them away, perhaps the boys made the mistake of asking for something small for their service, instead of thanking God for the chance of being near law enforcement and walking away unscratched
