charity12Being healthy devoid of illness is a very important aspect of our daily life. Sometimes we tend to perceive that everyday that unfolds in our lives is just a normality.

Things have not been smooth for a form three student at Narumoru Girls High School

whose education has since then hit a snag after being involved in a hit-and-run accident while ridding a bicycle along the Ring Road Estate, Nyeri County.

Charity Mumbi had grabbed her brother's bicycle and rode off from their home in Kamakwa destined towards New Life Children's Home where she had planned to pay them a visit as it was her normality to do so.

Unfortunately, a speeding car came from behind and swept her off from behind and swept her off the bicycle, hurdling her onto the fence of the nearby Nyeri Technical Training Institute.

Her head rammed a pole on the fence and she slumped to the ground. However, the merciless motorist drove off without slowing to help his or her victim who was deeply rooted in pain and agony.

A good Samaritan, Doctor Ritho who lives nearby, drove at the scene of incident and rapidly took her to the nearby Outspan Hospital.

She suffered multiple skull and jaw fractures and the fatal accident's injuries cost her multiple complications rendering her to a six months admission at Outspan Hospital in 2010.

Now, a Charity Mumbi Medical Fund raise Walk has been organized to raise a colossal sum of Ksh2 Million in order to facilitate a neuro cranial reconstruction and other surgeries scheduled to be done in India.

The Charity Mumbi Medical Fund raise Walk which will be graced by His Worship the Nyeri Town Mayor Cllr. Edward Muteru will take place on 31st March 2012 at 10 am. It will commence from Nyeri Town at Consolata Cathedral to St Peter and Paul Catholic Church Kamakwa.

A fund drive will further be held on 8th April 2012 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Kamakwa will also be geared towards helping Charity travel to India for the crucial operations and treatment and eventually resume her studies.

Education is the key pillar for excellence. Charity's ambitions of becoming a doctor should not be shuttered by the intense predicament she's experiencing.

As Kenyans, we need to be wholesomely involved in this welfare even as our country looks forward to the realization of vision 2030.

Any kind of gesture of monetary donation, walk sponsor, raffle items, guest appearance on both either occasions will be highly appreciated.
