A former Cabinet minister has expressed his interest to vie for the senate seat in Nyeri county come general elections next year.
Former Information and communication minister Mutahi Kagwe said in Kiriti Stadium in Mukurwe-ini constituency that after much consultation and calls from the people of the entire Nyeri county which comprises of Mukurwe-ini, Kieni, Mathira, Tetu, Othaya and Nyeri town, he would be in the race for the seat saying that he is in the best capacity to bring development in the county.
“i declare my intention to be a candidate of the senate position following calls by people of the Nyeri county and I appreciate all the challenges of that position.” he said.
Kagwe while addressing thousands who had attended the function said that once elected, he will work with investors including those outside the boundaries of the country in bringing Nyeri county into life again.
He also promised to invest in the ICT Technology thus creating employment to the youth in the county.
“My vision in several years to come ids to see all the youth being in employment other than idling around. We want that in 10 years to come, instead of the Nyeri youth going to Nairobi and other major towns to fetch for jobs to be the vice versa.” he said.
Kagwe also urged the voters to consider equity by ensuring that the available seats are distributed in all constituencies saying that any other person from Mukurwe-ini who will come out claiming for the same seat would only be acting in selfishness.
He also urged residents to be careful when choosing leaders who will manage the money which will be disbursed in counties without misappropriating it.
Already former Mathira Member of Parliament Nderitu Gachagua has expressed his interest for candidacy of the governor's seat and Nyeri county council chairman Martin Wachira yesterday in the same function declared interest to run for Deputy governor's seat.
At the same time, Former Makadara MP Dick Wathika who lost his seat to Gideon Mbuvi (alias Sonko) in a petition filed by Reuben Ndolo said that he would vie for Mukurwe-ini constituency parliamentary seat.
He told the constituents that since he has been in power for a long time as an MP and Nairobi mayor, he would be in the right position to work behind Kagwe.
Also present were Simon Mathenge(Kieni aspirant), Muhika Mutahi(Mukurwe-ini among others.
Interdenominational prayers were also held.

A Political machine triumphs because it is a united minority acting against a divided majority.Having good strategy would help you alot, you need to network widely and on top to bottom approach, coz your election is NOT assured. This is an issue of conviction and only mukurweini people knows how good you are thats you dont have to pay money to know ur history,ur opponents will do it free inorder to create a defeat scenario.Work needs to be done sir,we are still miles far.Note what Charles has mentioned above,in support of his statement golf players keep heads down and follow through and in politics you got to keep your head up and follow through and beyond green.Nevertheless,ev ery vote is important and i believe there are FEW at the golf club.otwiz, thy should take you to their villages.
Wish you Gods blessings.
Vicar,Nyeri Central District.
Bwana Kagwe, who is in your team, Nyeri County has about 300,000 votes and Mukurwe-ini has only 46,000 of those. Now who will you support for Governor, County Women Rep & Deputy GOvernor? Unless you join the winning team you are wasting your time and money. Armchair urbane politics will not help you. There are no votes in Nyeri Golf Club where you meet the rich lile you. I thought you learnt a lesson in 2007 but wapi! you are still the same arrogant, aloof and dismissive.
My advise to you, just stick to Mukurwe-ini beacause we from Kieni witk 103,000 votes are not ready to dance to your tune.
Regards
We are behind you MHESHIMIWA
