MUTAHI KAGWE FLAGS OFF FUND DRIVE WALK

DSC03872Kenyan leaders should put aside their ego and consider the well being of the members of the public, Mutahi Kagwe an aspiring candidate of senator seat in Nyeri County has said.

Mutahi was speaking at Ruring’u stadium in Nyeri where he flagged off Nyeri branch Red Cross fund drive walk.

He urged the parliament to stop delays and pass the legislative council responsible in passing implementing the constitution as these delays are affecting the whole country.

Mutahi urged all Kenyan public to come up and support the red cross society saying that they have the capability of responding to disasters in a quick and efficient manner if only they get the support they deserve. He urged all the Nyeri County schools to at least establish an active Red Cross branch in their respective schools.

Patrick Gichohi, the coordinator Nyeri Red Cross society said that during this year’s DSC03882walk, about 2 million people are expected to participate in the exercise. Nyeri County had already registered 87 secondary and primary schools by the time the walk was flagged off.

The walk is aimed at getting resources that assist Red Cross team in responding to disasters and in their reduction.

The chair-lady, Nyeri branch, madam Faith W. Maina, encouraged schools to train their clubs in ways of handling disasters from early age saying that if the training is administered at a tender age then the humanitarian spirit will be easily natured in the youngsters’ lives.

Humanity, Impartiality, Independence, Neutrality, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality is what the organization operates on as their key fundamental principles.
