Residents of Kiamariga village in Mathira Sub-County have threatened to hunt down and kill a wild animal that has been killing their livestock if the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) does not contain the animal.
The animal which residents suspected to be a leopard is said to have strayed from Tagwa Forest.
One of the affected farmers Stephen Wachira, said the beast struck at around 2.00 am on Tuesday killing a sheep and left several others injured.
Wachira said he earlier thought it was a thief who had gained entry into his compound. He could however not leave the house due to fear.
He said that he fears that the four injured sheep worth Shs. 24,000 may succumb to their injuries leading to a big loss.
Residents said this is the second time that the animal is attacking livestock in the village in a period of less than six months.
