Here comes madam manager…

Pppppp…’the elevator blared. With the destination on the fifth floor, the sliding door opens and the five are spewed. With no time to chit chat or catch a simple good morning, they all disperse to the paths leading to their places of work.
Tap, tap tap! The faded footsteps from a distance start to gain live and eventually, amplified! Within a short time, all the hobnobbing and the scallywag behavior is put to rest as they all scamper back to their desks! Anxiety, fear and a sterile mood grips the atmosphere of the office as the strong perfume diffuses faster than expected .with no time, everyone is aware of who is in the building ‘Madam manager!’.
With a bossy stature, she walks into the office and stands a few inches off the door. She darts her eye to the farthest scope her sight can offer, from the ceiling to the flour, the walls and even to the farthest sited staff. May be, trying to inspect the surrounding and keenly evaluating her staff ,in bid to make sure no foul play is acted by the people she has placed under her watch. Hooking the bag by her right arm which is well adorned in a gold wrist watch, the car key slipped into the neatly manicured index finger. Not forgetting the luminous neck chain and dangling earrings that are exposed while her massive and long strands of hair sprang freely and settles on her shoulders. She lowers the glasses on to the nose bridge and exposes her eyes so heavy with make up. Her face so flawless with her chubby ruddy cheeks exposing patches of face powder. As she savor the chewing gum in her mouth, the shiny red painted lips exposes the sparkling milky white teeth. In her low neck lined top, one can not help but pity the boobs underneath as they can be spilled anytime in an attempt to stoop down to pick up something. Her flowing dark cotton short skirt swishes as she struts toward the window overlooking the tarmac road in her six inch stiletto. She inspects the sparkling floor making sure that no crumb blow before her very own eyes. Soon she retires to her office.
A deep silence hit the office until a call comes through. No sooner, the secretary puts on a scary face and slips into distress biting her index finger; one would not help but pity her. Perhaps she might be reminiscing what she didn’t do right or just may be; crafting some reasons that she will have to down load to the madam. With no word, she thrust her arm chair, walks towards the bosses’ door .Rooted there; she kisses her rosary, takes a deep breath and with no hesitation opens the door.
One can not help but guess that things have turned down right ugly, the shouting, name calling and claims that the Friday presentation was ‘slipshod’
This and many more cold treatments that staff members suffer under the watch of boss ladies, pauses the question, why many women are bosses so bossy and ruthless. Do they have to put the staff through humiliation every time a slight crumb of activity goes wrong? The relation deteriorates especially when the victim is a lady.
Patrick makau, a banker admits that his ‘madam’ seldom takes it out on him .However; he confesses that the relationship between his boss and his female colleagues is what can be described as ‘messy’. ‘Every morning she has to transfer her stress on one of them’ He continues ‘She even embarrasses them before the clients. To me, she doesn’t exhibit the best mannerism carried by bosses. However, it’s natural! Women fight over trivial matters, Perhaps she only wants to suppress the promotion chances of her fellow women. Go to many organizations and you will proof me right that the same drama plays out!’
‘Holding hostage of the atmosphere is her soft spot towards creating an intimidating working environment’ mutters Njeri against her boss. Having worked for the past two years in a beauty product advertisement department, Njeri best describes her boss as a nasty piece of work. ’ she is a habitual complainer, childish and has decadent morals always seeing the mistake in everything we do’ Continues njeri ‘No one stands her, infact, I have done my best putting up with her insolent and intolerable attitude and simultaneously stomaching her insults over the past two years. I think they take advantage over one’s desperation and use and misuse you to please her ego’.
Angelina Aketch who doubles up as an employer and beautician say that the strictness carried about by bossy ladies is justifiable. ‘Employees need to perform and not only to shoddily perform the tasks, but do exemplary work to their benefit as well as to the clients. As far as the bossy ladies can be viewed in a multi faceted way, their cautiousness, administrative skills, disciplinary nature and wifely or motherly responsibilities accompanies them hence transferring all these values to their duties in their offices. All in all, every thing in the organization runs smoothly under their eagle eye’.
Whatever your take is, women play an important role toward establishing a firm career growth whether you tolerate them, appreciate them. There is an influx of them coming up on a daily basis and it seems you will have to deal with yourself first and then live with them.
